A PIECE OF MY HEART STAYED IN ICELAND

OUR ROAD TRIP THROUGH ICELAND | VOL. I

Iceland

A couple of years ago, together with two friends, we decided to make a nine day road trip through Iceland. We started all the way down in Reykjavík, the capital, moving all along the coast and going all around the Island until we reached back to the city.
If only words could explain how peaceful and beautiful this country is and how much in love I still am with it. It was the first and only place so far where I found myself in a middle of a field with nothing around in a radius of kilometers. I could hear my own heart and it beat in the most appreciated way possible.
I always said it would be boring to live on an island and stupid to live somewhere where there is a higher probability for natural catastrophes, in this case Volcanoes. But, as soon my feet touched this land, I found myself debating on leaving everything behind and moving to Ísland.
Because we traveled in the Summer, we didn't actually see night. In the pictures below it was the darkest it has ever been the entire time we spent there. As soon as the sun was about to set, it would just come right back up, and there you have it another day.
We found ourselves mingling with the locals, in the terrace of bars at three AM drinking beer and wearing sun glasses. Crossing rivers with barefoot only to swim in an abandoned natural hot spring. Seeing sheep, deer, horses and all possible animals just running free everywhere. Stop counting waterfalls after the 20th. Climbing all the way up to a huge waterfall only to see the iceberg melt in all it's glory and with it the most beautiful view. Being in front of a huge waterfall feeling the strength of the water touching the ground. This among so many other things.
Once again, because our hearts can only take so much, I divided this trip into three or maybe even four posts. Below, I give you a sneak peek of our first two days in this lovely country.
