apple chips

Another week has past and it's December again. Wow! Lately I feel like the time just flies so freaking fast that it creeps me out sometimes.
Almost all the leaves fell from the trees and are now smoochy stuff on the ground so it's time to say Bye-Bye to Autumn and welcome the wintry color pallet.
Yesterday and the day before it was Sinterklaas here in the Netherlands. For those of you who don't know what it is, let's call it the Dutch Christmas.
My main memories of Christmas are smells. Waking up to my grandmother cooking all the delicious Christmas sweets. To be completely honest I was never a big fan of eating them because they are so fatty and sugary, but I love the smell and the comfort it brings to the house every time. She would spend days in the kitchen cooking Christmas meals and the sweets that would last almost until New Year's eve.
Anyway, because the weather calls for it, this time I bring you a super easy and healthy recipe that will transform the holiday snacking time into something more pleasurable and guilty-free.
They say "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". I say why not transform the boring apple into something nicer. And let's face it, it looks so much prettier!
With no further ado, let's begin!

Slice very thin layers of apple with a sharp knife or a slicer.

Place the layers on top of an oven tray previously covered with parchment paper.
Place the tray with the apple slices in the oven for around 40 minutes. Keep an eye because depending on the thickness of the apple the time needed may change.

When ready, take the tray from the oven and let the apple slices cool down for a moment.
Once the apple is ready to eat, you can serve it with or without icing sugar and cinnamon poured on top.
