NORTHERN SPAIN | PART I

Pirineus

Back in 2013 David and I decided to do a road trip through Northern Spain. We packed up our bags and flew all the way to Barcelona, where we spent two nights. The idea, as always, was to have a look around the main city and then move along to a quieter atmosphere for the rest of the week, to recharge the batteries in the middle of nature.
I had been in Spain only once before and that was Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca. That was actually the first time I traveled outside of Portugal, and it was a great experience. Since that was my very first time leaving the country I thought it would be a wise idea to do it by foot. So, right before we crossed the border I got out of the car and jumped with both feet in Spain. But enough of that for now. Let's go back to this road trip, shall we?
Barcelona is a huge city with a colossal feeling, at least personally. It is one of the biggest cities I've been so far. Everything seems huge! The buildings, the streets, gardens, you name it. We had a nice time there, walking around, visiting a friend, eating tapas, drinking some fresh cider and resting in the park.
After two nights there we finally got our rental car and faced the road. Next stop was Broto which is a municipality in the province of Huesca, Aragon. The place where we stayed was super calm, with only a few cows and sheep around and we could hear their bell clappers in between the thunderstorm. Despite the storm, it was very warm and we were still able to explore the surroundings. We found a huge beautiful waterfall in the middle of the city. What a surprise! I loved it! We also explored a bit of Torla, which is very picturesque and super cute. It reminded me so much of Portugal. Too bad we didn't have the appropriated clothing, shoe-wear and time to visit the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido because it seemed beautiful. Oh well, I guess we have another reason to come back.
I divided this trip into more than one post, so make sure you visit the links down below, in case you're interested in joining us on this trip!

For now, I hope you enjoy this few snapshots.
