CAUDALIE | MY SKINCARE ROUTINE

Last time I was in Portugal, I decided to finally try some skincare from Caudalie, and so I treated myself to three products: the instant foaming cleanser, the moisturizing toner and the instant detox mask. These three products alone were enough for me to see a huge difference on my skin's appearance and fall head over heals over this brand as I searched for more.

At the time, because I was traveling and wasn't really sure if it would do much for me, I decided to get the instant foaming cleanser and the moisturizing toner in travel sizes, which by the way I totally recommend doing if you'd like to try them for yourself, plus if you keep the bottles you can easily re-fill them for traveling purposes. But once they were close to the finish line I found myself struggling to go back to any other skincare.

After some research, I finally found the website skins.nl which not only sells products from Caudalie but a lot of other great brands that aren't at all easily accessible here. I'm usually not the type of person to get all products from one brand, but seeing how great these worked for my skin, I decided to treat myself to a whole new skincare routine without even thinking twice about it. So I got the full size Instant Foaming Cleanser, and the Moisturizing Toner, together with the Gentle Buffing Cream, the Vinopure Serum Infusion Anti Imperfections, the VineActiv 3-in-1 Moisturizer and the Mineral Tinted Moisturizer.

A little insight on my skin

Ever since I was a kid I had issues with sensitive skin, mainly on my legs. When I was adolescent, the skin on my face was very oily, this lasted for a few years into my adulthood. I've always had huge pores, some acne scars, black heads and a few breakouts every now and then. After my first pregnancy, my skin changed drastically and became very de-hydrated, sensitive and with dry patches, still with the occasional breakouts mostly during PMS and for some reason I was still finding it difficult to get ride of all the black heads.

I've been using all of these products on a daily-basis for over six months now and can tell you that my skin has never looked or felt better.

Ever since I changed my skincare routine and started using these products I noticed that my skin looks a lot clearer, there's no black heads apart from the occasional ones that appear on my nose (ah those bad bad boys), the texture on my skin seems a lot smoother and even, I barely ever have breakouts and the dry patches are completely non existent. I feel not only much more confident with my skin but also a lot more comfortable, since I don't have anything to pick on or scratch.

I can say one hundred per cent that I am in awe not only with the products but also with the brand. They really focus in creating natural products, with the right ingredients and be as less damaging to the environment as possible, and I'm all about that. Besides, the price tag on most of their products is very much OK, especially when you take into consideration all the work behind and when compared to other products/companies. Definitely won my heart.

I don't see myself using anything else in a near future, at least while these products keep doing what they're doing to my skin.

My skincare routine

To start off, let me tell you that on the days when I'm not wearing makeup (which, let's face it it's more often than not) I only cleanse my face once per day. It may seem weird to many of you, but I found that washing my face twice per day is totally unnecessary and just strips all of the good oils and stuff my skin normally produces.

So, I start off by using the Instant Foaming Cleanser after leaving the shower in the morning. One pump is more than enough to cover my entire face and neck. I usually like to massage it on dry skin in circular motions and, after dampening my Luxury Facial Flannel from The Body Shop, cleanse everything. This flannel is like a hybrid between a sponge and a cloth. It is super gentle and soft on the skin but does a great job at removing all impurities. On the days that I'm looking for a gentle exfoliation I will use the Facial Cleansing Sponge that I've spoke about in the past, also from The Body Shop.

Since this cleansing method doesn't leave much water on my face anyway, I typically won't dry it after this and just skip ahead to the Moisturizing Toner, using only one pump on a cotton pad or directly on a Muslin Cloth from The Body Shop, which I found to be great for this since you can easily wash it afterwards and lasts way longer.

Using the moisture from the toner I spread just one pump of the Vinopure Serum which, trust me, it is more than enough. And immediately after, I'll use a pea size of the Vineactiv 3-in-1 moisturizer.
This is everything I do on the days that I don't feel like wearing makeup. After this, my skin looks super healthy and glowy.

On the days I do want to wear the bare minimum makeup, I'll then use the Mineral Tinted Moisturizer by Caudalie. But I won't get into that here since I'll be talking about it in My Natural Makeup Look in a different post. Stay tuned for that if you're interested!

Apart from this everyday skincare routine, I use the Instant Detox Mask once a week, typically on the weekend. Just a very thin layer is enough for me to feel the product sink in and dug up all the shits I don't want on my skin. It dries super fast and even though it deeply cleanses my skin, it doesn't leave it feeling itchy like most clay masks tend to do.

In the middle of the week, I like to use the Gentle Buffing Cream, also once per week. I like to use it in the shower, massaging it in circular motions while the conditioner does its job and gently removing it with warm-Luke water at the end of the shower, followed by all the other steps I previously mentioned.

And this is it. It may seem like a lot of steps - heck, it did to me at first! But just like brushing my teeth everyday, this was just another healthy habit I managed to easily implement on my daily-routine, and it really makes such a difference. I'm really happy to have finally found something that is so good and works wonders for my skin.

Have you ever tried any of these products? Are there any other you'd recommend?
