2016 RETROSPECTIVE

Ines Lopes

Two thousand and sixteen wasn't personally a bad year at all. I actually had a pretty good time. In fact, it was one of the best years I've had so far, especially in terms of personal growth and happiness.
Here's a recap of all the things that marked my year in a very positive way, not necessarily in any special order.

We traveled a lot this past year! We've been to Belgium, where we spent a very healthy detoxing vacation appreciating nature, one another and our lovely daughter. We've been to the UK for the first time, and because only one time wasn't enough we went back. And we've been to Portugal twice this year as well, where we spent some quality time with family and friends.

I managed to identify and get rid of a lot of negativity that was surrounding and subconsciously affecting me, which no doubt contributed to a way healthier mindset.

We finally had our housewarming party surrounded by our friends, great food and good weather all at once!

David moved to a job where he is happier at and I resigned my contract with the company I worked the longest, which felt surreal but oh so right.
On that same note, we both managed to balance our personal and work lives, we live way less stressed and much happier.

I finally got the time and energy to organize a bunch of stuff in our house that were set aside for way too long. With that, I also managed to give away a lot of stuff that I didn't need.

I feel like I grew a lot in so many ways. I gain a lot of good habits and started taking better care of myself, and consequently of other people surrounding me.

I studied programming language and with it, I managed to build my new web page from scratch.

We both reunited with old friends and had a great time with visits this past year.

I've become more social and met a lot of nice people.

We've got over 4 kilograms of walnuts from our backyard tree and they are so tasty!

We visited quite a few interesting museums, exhibitions, galleries and new places.

David learned to make the best homemade pizza ever and now we are addicted to it! Let me know in the comments how much you'd like to see the full recipe in a video.

Even though I really do not want to repeat the episode, I had my first ambulance ride. haha! We always need to take the good out of a crappy situation, right?

We dog-sat a very friendly dog. It was a great experience in so many levels.

We blew our own firework on New year's eve! Well, David did, me and Eva just watched it while cuddling together on the sidewalk.

And I will stop here before this list gets huge.
I am so excited for this year. We have so many plans and very cool projects, not only work and house related but also personal, and I can't wait to share them all with you guys.
I'm sure 2017 will bring us all a very bright future!
